Sara Serritella ITM

Sara Serritella is the Director of Communications of the ITM and a lecturer at the University of Chicago. She orchestrates the ITM’s strategic messaging everywhere from the National Institutes of Health to hyper-local campaigns throughout Chicago. She oversees the scaling of ITM communications efforts, trains academics on the most effective ways to share their science with the general public, and helps share the powerful stories of the volunteers who participate in health research. Serritella leads The New Normal™ Campaign and Save Da Hoomans™, a collaboration with the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Rush, Loyola University Chicago, and others to increase awareness of and participation in health research. Serritella brings more than a decade of experience to the ITM from her time in the journalism, nonprofit, and venture capital sectors, and she has advised everyone from corporate executives to government officials on communications strategies. Serritella has reported at media outlets across the country and contributed to the Pulitzer Prize-winning team reporting at the Detroit Free Press. She is a proud alumna of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communications.
