Do you want to explore medical publishing and communications while still maintaining an active clinical practice? JAMA’s Morris Fishbein Fellowship in Medical Editing might be for you! This year-long fellowship based at the JAMA offices in Chicago is for people with an MD or DO degree who have completed their residency training. The fellowship will introduce you to all facets of editing and publishing a major medical journal.

Specific duties include reviewing and preparing research manuscripts for publication, learning about medical graphics, recording podcasts, working with social media, and writing for the JAMA Patient Page. You’ll receive a $78,000 stipend for the year.

At the completion of the program, you’ll be proficient with the process of manuscript review and selection, peer review, issue makeup, manuscript editing, medical news writing, and online publishing.
