Geronimus, Sc.D., Professor in the School of Public Health and Research Professor in the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan, at this virtual event hosted by the Family Action Network.\nGeronimus first coined the term “weathering” almost 40 years ago to describe the effects of systemic oppression on marginalized people’s bodies—even down to the cellular level. In her groundbreaking new book, Weathering: The Extraordinary Stress of Ordinary Life in an Unjust Society, Geronimus argues that health and aging have more to do with how society treats us than how well we take care of ourselves.\nMiller will join Geronimus for a conversation on “weathering” and the Center for Community Health and Vitality’s mission is to improve population health outcomes for residents on the South Side of Chicago through community-engaged research, demonstration, and service models.\n
